Yes. Urine drug screens are completed at admission and may be administered randomly throughout your stay based on program requirements and clinical need.
Yes. Mail is distributed daily. Staff do not read your mail, but you must open all mail in the presence of a staff member. Packages may be searched for contraband.
Phone time is scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays. Additional calls may be approved as needed for important matters such as paying bills or speaking with attorneys.
Still Waters for Women: TV is allowed on a limited basis during free time. Music may be played during free time through the TV, kitchen radio, or speaker system in the cabin/gym area.
Still Waters for Men: TV is allowed on a limited basis as determined by staff. Music is allowed in the rec room or pool house, as approved by staff.
Residents may bring AA/NA-approved literature and one spiritual text of their choice. Other books and magazines are not permitted.
Yes. Smoking is allowed in designated areas, and vaping is permitted with restrictions (no oil-based refills). Staff also provide store runs for residents to purchase cigarettes.
Yes. Free time is built into each day, though the amount may vary depending on evening activities, step process groups, and scheduled programming.
In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Still Waters provides services to all individuals without regard to race, color, or national origin. We are committed to ensuring that every patient has equal access to care, treatment, and services. We do not discriminate in admission, access, treatment, or employment. Language assistance services are available at no cost to individuals with limited English proficiency.
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Provides:
“No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”
TENNESSEE CODE ANNOTATED (TCA) 4-21-904:
“It is a discriminatory practice for any state agency receiving federal funds, making it subject to Title VI of the Civil rights Act of 1964, or any person receiving funds from a state agency, to exclude a person from participation in, deny benefits to a person, or to subject a person to discrimination under any program or activity receiving such funds, on the basis of race, color or national origin.”
Title VI Limited English Proficiency (LEP):
“Limited English Proficiency” is defined as the inability to speak, read, write, or understand the English language at a level that permits a service recipient to interact effectively with staff in accessing services and benefits. Executive Order 13166 (August 11, 2000) requires all agencies that receive federal funding to provide services that are accessible to persons with Limited English proficiency. Not providing services that are accessible constitutes discrimination based on national origin.
It is the policy of Still Waters to comply with Title VI in the provision of services. All Title VI complaints will be investigated in a timely manner by the Title VI Coordinator (QM Director).

Medication management appointments are available as needed through scheduled weekly visits with a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Medications are stored behind two locks and distributed with staff supervision at medication times four times per day.
Still Waters is a fully residential program with a full daily schedule. Outside work is not permitted.
The minimum length of stay is 30 days. Extensions beyond the initial 30 days are determined collaboratively with the resident, treatment team, and family.
We will work closely with attorneys and courts to request postponements whenever possible. If postponement is not an option, transportation to court can be arranged with staff supervision.
Transportation to essential medical appointments can be arranged when needed.
Still Waters does not include unsupervised offsite time. In emergencies, offsite passes with family supervision may be approved on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the Program Director.
Visitation is held every Sunday from 1:00–4:00 P.M. and is open to family members and recovery supports. One Sunday per month, visitation is adjusted to 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. to accommodate Family Programming. All visitors must be approved by staff in advance.

Families may call the Still Waters landlines below at any time to check on a resident and speak with staff. Case managers also provide families with weekly updates.

Family programming is offered once a month. A family counselor will reach out in advance to schedule so travel arrangements can be made.
Still Waters offers a monthly family program, along with a quarterly family intensive centered on the Al-Anon 12 Steps. Family participation in Al-Anon is strongly encouraged.
